Editorial process and statistics

From submission to publication

A manuscript goes through five stages. In the first, the editorial team confirms that the submission is complete: anonymized file, details and ORCID iDs of all authors, statements on originality and on the use of artificial intelligence. Incomplete submissions are returned to the author without review.

The second stage checks fit with the journal's scope and a minimum standard of academic writing, and runs the text through Turnitin. Here it is decided whether the paper proceeds or is rejected without external review; in either case the author is told why.

Next, two external reviewers from outside the authors' institutions submit their reports using the journal's public review form. On the basis of those reports, the editorial team decides and sends the decision with the anonymized comments. If revisions are requested, the author submits a revised version, which goes back to the reviewers when the changes are major.

Accepted papers are copyedited and typeset. The author checks the final proof before the article is published in the current issue.

Statistics

When each issue closes, this page publishes the figures of the process: submissions received, rejections before and after external review, rejection rate, and average days to first decision and to acceptance. It also reports the share of reviewers and authors from outside the publisher. All figures come from the platform's records. Those for volume 1, issue 1 will be published after 26 December 2026.
