Calls for papers
Open call
The journal accepts articles all year round in its five sections. Accepted papers are published in the current issue without waiting for it to close.
Volume 1, issue 1 (July–December 2026)
Open until 26 December 2026. Papers accepted after that date move to volume 2, issue 1.
Volume 2 (2027)
Volume 2 has two issues: the first runs from January to June and closes on 30 June 2027; the second, from July to December. Each brings together open-topic articles and articles from the special section on artificial intelligence, and closes with at least ten research articles. Accepted articles are published from January 2027 onwards, one by one, in the issue that is current at the time.
Volume 2 special section: The challenges of artificial intelligence in education and research
Generative artificial intelligence tools reached classrooms and research projects before the rules for using them did. Teachers and students use them to write, translate, code or grade, while institutions are still debating what to allow and how to establish who wrote a piece of work. This special section seeks studies that examine these changes with data and an explicit method.
We welcome papers on topics such as:
- uses of generative AI among teachers and students, and their effects on learning;
- assessment of learning when students have access to these tools;
- academic integrity: fabricated references, detection of generated text, disclosure of use;
- teacher education for teaching with and about AI;
- access gaps and system biases in Ecuador and Ibero-America;
- institutional policies and ethical frameworks governing its use.

How to submit
Manuscripts follow the author guidelines and the article template. They undergo the same double-blind peer review as the rest of the journal. When submitting, choose the section that fits your paper and write "AI special section 2027" in the comments for the editor.
A special section on artificial intelligence calls for consistency with its subject: every paper states whether it used these tools and for what, in line with the policy on the use of artificial intelligence.
