Preprints and self-archiving

Preprints

Revista Saberes Internacionales accepts manuscripts already available as preprints on a recognized server, such as SciELO Preprints, Zenodo, OSF Preprints or the author's institutional repository. For the journal, a preprint is a version that has not yet been peer reviewed, so its existence does not count as prior publication.

At submission, the author states the server, the preprint identifier (DOI or link) and its date. That version is reviewed like any other, with double-blind peer review. Because the preprint shows the authors' names, the editorial team chooses reviewers who are not familiar with it and asks them not to look for it.

If the article is published, the author updates the preprint record with the reference and DOI of the final version. If it is rejected, the preprint may remain online.

Self-archiving

Authors may deposit any version of their work in institutional or subject repositories, on their personal website and on academic networks, with no embargo:

  • the submitted version (preprint), at any time;
  • the accepted version after review, from the date of acceptance;
  • the published version, with the journal's layout, from the date of publication.

In all three cases, the deposit states that the work was submitted to, accepted by or published in Revista Saberes Internacionales and, where available, links to the article's DOI. Self-archiving is possible because authors retain their rights and articles are published under a CC BY 4.0 license.
