Research data

Principle

Revista Saberes Internacionales asks that the data underlying an article be available for consultation whenever ethics and law allow. A reader of a result should be able to see where it comes from and, if they wish, check it.

Data availability statement

Every research article includes a data availability statement before the references. It may take one of these forms:

  • the data are in an open repository (Zenodo, OSF, Figshare or an institutional repository), with their identifier or link;
  • the data are available from the corresponding author on request, with the reason they were not deposited;
  • the data cannot be shared, because they would compromise participants' confidentiality or belong to a third party.

The journal recommends the first option. In studies involving people, data that could identify them are never published; if deposited at all, they are anonymized and covered by informed consent that allows it.

Citing data, software and methods

Datasets, software and instruments used are cited in the reference list in APA 7 format, like a book or an article, with their DOI when available. When the study follows a recognized reporting guideline (for example, those of the EQUATOR Network) or was preregistered, this is stated in the methods.

Supplementary material

Long tables, questionnaires and other appendices may be submitted as supplementary files. If the article is accepted, they are published with it under the same CC BY 4.0 license, unless they belong to third parties.
